Singing for the Brain is an innovative service for people affected by dementia and their carers. The groups use singing to bring people together in a friendly and stimulating social environment.
Singing is not only an enjoyable activity, it can also provide a way for people with dementia, along with their carers, to express themselves and socialise with others in a fun and supportive group.
What do our volunteers do?
- Help to set up the room, including moving tables and chairs
- Welcome clients
- Listen and communicate with empathy and respect
- Support with making tea and coffee
- Support singing activities, hand out song sheets etc.
- Help to close down
You do not need to be a great singer as this service is about the social aspect of singing and the impact music has on aiding memory.
When can I volunteer? Yate, day and time to be confirmed- this is a new group just about to start.
