Tree of Light to Shine Through December
Yate Shopping Centre
Yate Rotary’s Tree of Light will bring rays of brightness to Yate Shopping Centre during December, allowing the public to remember special times by sponsoring a light in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a special family event.
The tree, located at the eastern entrance to the Shopping Centre, by the petrol station, will be switched on at 4pm on Friday, 4th December with the event being streamed live on the Shopping Centre’s Facebook site.
However, other activities will be taking place to support the Tree of Light within the Shopping Centre with a Rotary Club stall in front of M&S in East Walk on 4th and 12th December and a decorated shop window at 1 North Walk from 5th December.
Andrew Lowrey, Yate Shopping Centre Manager: “This year will be very strange times as even today we are not certain what will be allowed to take place. However, the Tree of Light will be a focal point for the festive season where we can reflect back on 2020 and previous years whilst looking forward to 2021 with rays of optimism.
“Hopefully, the majority of shops will have re-opened by then post lockdown and local traders will be decked out in festive tradition. We encourage the local community to support the Centre’s shops whilst remembering to observe the Government’s guidelines.”
Spokesperson for Yate Rotary Club, Marian Gilpin, co-ordinator for the Tree of Light events, said: “We are so pleased that we are able to bring this brilliant display to the community at this special time of year. This special tree can be shared by everyone and will be lit from 4th December until 10th January to remind us of our loved ones.
“We are delighted to be working with the Shopping Centre to deliver what will be the central focus for the town throughout December.”
Yate Shopping Centre is asset managed by Ellandi and the property management is headed by Cushman & Wakefield.
