Social Distancing for Further Retailer Openings

Yate Shopping Centre

Strict social distancing measures are being introduced at Yate Shopping Centre ahead of the re-opening of non-essential retail units on 15th June.
The measures in all pedestrian walkways will be well signposted and Centre staff will be on hand to assist and guide customers as necessary.
Andrew Lowrey, Centre Manager, said: “It is imperative that we have a well-organised system to help the public get around the Centre whilst adhering to the Government’s social distancing guidelines.
“It has been a very difficult period for all traders and we want to ensure they get up and running as soon as possible whilst keeping the public safe. Thus we ask customers to work with our staff to ensure things run smoothly.
“We will be constantly reviewing these new measures along with Government guidance and will make any changes as necessary.”

The measures will mean that:

  • A keep left system with signage will be in place around the Centre
  • Staff will actively talk to customers to ensure that this is followed
  • Customers will be able to cross the line but only to go directly into a store immediately opposite
  • There will be some hard barriers in place to ensure that customers are taking the correct direction mainly in the centre square around Boswells
  • Staff are talking to all retailers and agreeing queuing systems.

Tesco is operating its own queuing system from under the store and no longer on East Walk, as has been the case.
Andrew Lowrey: “As with any such measures, there are almost certain to be some issues so we strongly recommend that customers speak to Centre staff if they have any concerns. Working together, we can start to get operations back to a state of normality”.
Yate Shopping Centre is asset managed by Ellandi and the property management is headed by Cushman & Wakefield.
