What was Christmas like in medieval times? The finest Middle English romance, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, provides fresh insights into the Christmas traditions and customs of former times. Ad Putter, Professor of Medieval English at the University of Bristol, will introduce the poem and explore the Yuletide setting.
Ad Putter is a Co-Director of the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Bristol, and Fellow of the British Academy, and co-editor with Myra Stokes, of The Works of the Gawain Poet (Penguin 2014).
