Shakespeare in the Barn: The Tempest
Winterbourne Medieval Barn
We are delighted to welcome The Festival Players back to Winterbourne Medieval Barn to perform Shakespeare's play The Tempest, directed by Michael Dyer with music by Johnny Coppin.
Shakespeare’s last great play is a triumphant compilation of intrigue, magic, and humour. Prospero, an exiled Duke with supernatural powers, creates a great storm which sees his enemies shipwrecked on his island. Magic abounds, plots are exposed, and a colourful array of characters gain their deserts.
The Festival Players Theatre Company is a professional theatre company, now in their 38th year of delivering the very best in open-air Shakespeare and touring theatre. As in Shakespeare's day, this performance uses an all-male company of skilled professional actors playing all the parts.
Please note this is a Park and Stride event. Free parking is at Winterbourne Academy (High Street BS36 1JL). From there it is approximately a 10 minute walk down to the Barn via Church Lane or Beacon Lane.
No parking on Church Lane as this obstructs local traffic and emergency vehicles.
Plenty of space for bicycle parking at the Barn, and some space for drop off / collection.
Parking at the Barn is strictly reserved for accessibility parking requirements and must be pre-booked. To book an accessible space please email ceara.foley@winterbournebarn.org.uk giving your vehicle registration, and saying whether you require a wheelchair accessible space and/or any accessible seating.
The Barn and bar is open from 6.30pm. The performance starts at 7pm in the Medieval Barn. Seating is unreserved. Tickets £16 (concessions £10) available online from Ticketsource or via the Barn website.
