Fused Glass Summer Lantern Workshop
Winterbourne Medieval Barn
1pm - 3.30pm
Join local glass artist Rachael Durkan from The Glass Cabin for one of her popular fused glass sessions where you can make a unique and beautiful item for yourself or as a gift. In this workshop we are delighted to offer the chance to make a decorated Summer Lantern.
You will learn the basics of kiln-formed glass techniques and create your own designs on pre-cut pieces of glass. You have 2.5 hours to design and make two panels for your lantern, the door panel and one other panel of your choice. The panels are approximately 9×13cm (door) and 10x14cm. You can choose from a selection of templates to help guide your design and then pick from an array of pre-cut glass and glass accessories to create your lantern panels. Rachael will have lots of ideas to inspire you and is on hand with design advice throughout the workshop.
Tea and coffee will be provided during the introduction. Due to the nature of working with glass, refreshments are not permitted during the actual workshop. This workshop is suitable for ages 16+ (under 18's must be accompanied by an adult).
For safety reasons, please do not wear open-toe shoes such as sandals or flip flops. People who normally wear glasses for close-up work are advised to bring them along!
NB. Rachael will take your finished glass piece away after the workshop to be kiln-fired, and it will be ready to collect from the Barn, or from Rachael directly, a couple of weeks later.
This workshop costs £68 which includes full tuition, all materials, and tea/coffee at the start. Free parking on site. Book online at Ticketsource or via the Barn website.
