Winterbourne Medieval Barn
10am-1pm
Do you want to improve your existing sewing skills and take things to the next level? Are you afraid of sewing the dreaded zipper and need a little helping hand? If so this intermediate wash bag making workshop is just what you need!
In this three hour workshop you’ll learn how to make a beautiful and functional Japanese design wax canvas washbag, complete with outer pockets, waterproof lining and a zip closure. You will learn general sewing techniques, edge stitching, sewing a zipper, boxing corners, and achieving a professional finish.
You will be provided with all the materials you need (fabrics, interfacing, zippers and thread) along with detailed step by step instructions. Lauren will guide you through the whole process, providing plenty of tips and tricks on sewing techniques for future projects. You are also welcome to bring your own outer fabric if you prefer to make your wash bag truly unique to you!
Sewing machines and all accessories will also be provided, so all you need to do is turn up! But if you would prefer to bring your own sewing machine then please advise us at the time of booking.
This workshop is ideal if you've had some general sewing experience in the past but need some guidance to learn new techniques. Great for challenging yourself and building the confidence to tackle more difficult projects!
Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival and is included in your ticket price. Cost £60. Book online direct on Ticketsource or via the Barn website. Free parking on site.
The primary purpose of the event is to raise money for WMBT and to support conservation, management, maintenance and improvement of the WMBT site.
