Sewing Workshop: Make a Japanese Apron
Winterbourne Medieval Barn
10am - 4pm
Improve your dressmaking skills with this Japanese cross back apron sewing workshop. Known as ‘Maekake’, these practical aprons featuring two large front pockets were traditionally used as a work garment and made from old sails for fishermen to wear whilst out at sea.
In this full day workshop, Lauren will expertly guide you through the process of making your own Japanese apron from scratch, learning how to cut out a pattern from fabric, how to use interfacing, and how to sew a variety of seams and finishings.
Basic knowledge of using a sewing machine is advisable. This workshop is ideal for anyone who has a bit of experience but would like guidance to help build their confidence in basic dressmaking techniques.
You need to bring your own choice of fabric with you. Full tuition, sewing machines and all accessories will be provided. If you wish to bring your own machine, please advise us on booking.
The cost is £75 for the day including tea & coffee throughout the day. Please bring your own packed lunch. Free parking at the Barn.
