8-16th Christmas Tree Festival
St Mary's Church, Yate

Organisers of the Christmas Tree Festival in Yate are inviting local community groups, businesses and organisations to support this year's event by sponsoring and decorating one of 50 trees that will fill the church in December.

2019 will be the fourth year for this successful community-focused event, which culminates in a wonderful display of real Christmas trees individually decorated by sponsors.

This year's theme is based on Christmas stories and the organisers invite people to join in and sponsor a tree. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis with a minimum sponsorship of £30 per tree.

12noon: Chipping Sodbury Victorian Day
Broad Street, Chipping Sodbury

12-8pm, along Broad Street and High Street, Chipping Sodbury

The streets will be lined with stalls from local charities and organisations and old time amusements, including a Ferris wheel, Helter Skelter and children's rides.

Father Christmas will be there, choirs will sing, bands will play, and a traditional market including a Hog Roast will be held in Broad Street and High Street.

Come along and join us for your late night Christmas shopping with shops open throughout the evening. As usual the streets will be lined with Christmas lights and trees, decorated by local schools and nursery groups... and much, much more for all the family.

A fun, informative talk with Julie Henderson looking at some of the folklore, history, botany, horticulture and interesting facts behind the plants that make up our Christmas festivities.

Julie is an experienced professional gardener with a passion for pruning. She teaches workshops to adults and children at The University of Bristol Botanic Garden, and also on the RHS Level 3 Horticulture Certificate course. Her background includes working as a Horticultural Researcher for BBC Gardeners’ World and as a Tour Guide at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens.
