Formerly Artists on the Edge
A group of artists who paint and draw using a variety of media and cover a wide range of subjects. Since its inception the group has held exhibitions of their work in both Malmesbury and Chipping Sodbury.
We meet every first Wednesday of the month from September to June (with a break at Christmas) in the Watkins Room in the Old Grammar School Rooms, Chipping Sodbury at 7.30pm. Annual Subs are £20.00 and visitors pay £3. We have a varied programme of speakers and the occasional workshop.
We have a day’s coach trip each year to visit Open Gardens or other places of gardening interest. We support Sodbury in Bloom. We are a friendly club and by no means all expert gardeners. We enjoy sharing what knowledge we do have and welcome visitors to any of our meetings.
If anyone is interested in joining or just finding out about our club they are welcome to come to a meeting or contact Naomi Gathercole.

After many weeks of lockdown many of our gardens are now open. But we know there are many people who are not able to get out and visit and they have particularly enjoyed our Virtual Garden Visits. So even though we will not be adding new videos from the end of June, our library of nearly 200 garden videos will be constantly available here. And the Help Support our Nurses campaign continues to the end of the year, so if you visit a garden or view a Virtual Garden Visit, do please consider a donation. We are tantalisingly close to our £100,000 target.
The National Garden Scheme is proud to say that 80% of money raised through opening gardens goes to health charities.
In our area, Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath there are almost 40 gardens to choose from, all described in the local 'Yellow book.' In South Gloucestershire 7 very different gardens open to visitors providing 'Great Gardens, Great Cakes!' Some will open for groups, at a time to suit you, 'By Arrangement'.
Details of all the gardens can be found on the National Garden Scheme website below, or you can download the smartphone app. On both you can search for gardens opening within the distance you are prepared to travel. So why not go ahead and plan the gardens you would like to visit?
The huge benefits of gardens and gardening to health and well being are now well recognised. You may feel you would like to become involved in this inspiring organisation. It's possible to volunteer in a small way by helping with serving teas, or you may even feel that your own garden could be enjoyed by others. Seeing the pleasure on visitors' faces and sharing your endeavours with others, whilst helping the NGS charities, has a huge 'feel good factor.'
